Wollongong has ranked number one in digital inclusivity amongst regional cities and is on par with the average index for capital cities, a new report has found.

Undertaken by Swinburne University’s Centre for Social Impact and in partnership with Telstra and Roy Morgan Research, The Australian Digital Inclusion Index 2016 provides an index that measures internet access, affordability and ability across different regions and cities.

Wollongong scored 56.3 on the index and ranked the highest for regional cities across the country. Wollongong’s rank was just below the capital city average of 56.8, but still ahead of Perth, Adelaide and Hobart.

Along with modern and reliable road, rail and port infrastructure, Wollongong’s strong digital standing makes it the most connected regional city in Australia, providing a superior location for businesses looking to start-up, grow or invest.
